I’ve recently had a conversation about local tea brands from various countries, and during that discussion, I became more curious about tea brands in Thailand. I then started to search for tea products specifically owned and produced by local businesses in Thailand and have selected the first five exceptional tea blends to sample and review for this blog.

I hope that this blog will showcase Thai brands to both local and international audiences. If you’d like to try the products, you can buy them directly from their websites or through my affiliate links.

'Sun' by Plantogenic

  • Ingredients: Ginger, licorice, dried lemongrass, black galangal, black pepper, kaffir lime leaves
  • Steeping time: 7 Mins

I came across Plantogenic because of their plant-based and health-focused concept. The brand offers a variety of products, including supplements such as probiotics and detox options, as well as my favorite: tea.

My pick from Plantogenic’s tea collection is ‘Sun.’ I love that ‘Sun’ contains herbs commonly used in cooking Thai soup, which reminds me of a comforting cup of tea for a cold or fever. ‘Sun’ is suggested to offer benefits for digestion and can increase metabolism when consumed on an empty stomach. The taste is not as strong as I imagined and is very easy to drink.

This package contains 15 teabags, each weighing 2 grams.

'Golden Night' by Nicha

  • Ingredients: Chrysanthemum, Bael, Safflower
  • Steeping time: 3 Mins

NICHA’s signature blends feature flowers and herbs sourced from trusted local farms, under the concept ‘Purity in the Cup,’ which guarantees no added color, fragrance, or flavor in their products.

The brand offers various tea blends, but their sleep tea collections intrigued me the most. After considering for a while, I chose ‘Golden Night,’ a blend of Chrysanthemum, Bael, and Safflower. ‘Golden Night’ is the only blend that doesn’t contain chamomile, unlike the other blends in their sleep tea collection.

The tea’s soothing aroma and beautiful golden color evoke my feelings of relaxation and nostalgia. It’s not only delightful to drink but also visually stunning to admire.

'First Winter Black Tea' by Sawanbondin

  • Ingredients: Assamica Black Tea
  • Steeping time: 3 Mins

I first discovered ‘Sawanbondin’ brand a long time ago while sitting at a cafe in Chiang Mai. I’ve always remembered their brand name because it has a beautiful meaning – ‘Heaven on Earth’ when translated into English.

I’ve tried a few of their herbal teas before, but this time, I reached out to the brand to ask for recommendations. They presented their recent collection called ‘First Winter Black Tea 2023,’ which represents the festive season.

The ‘First Winter Black Tea 2023’ was produced in November 2023 and is recommended to be consumed within a year. The tea is smooth with a classic flavor – perfect for my morning cups.

'Ginseng Oolong Tea' by Suwirun

  • Ingredients: Ginseng, Oolong Tea
  • Steeping time: 3 Mins

Suwirun has been cultivating a variety of teas for many years, sourced from their own organic tea, herbal, and flower plantations in Chiang Rai, Thailand. The brand showcases eight different tea collections, each with unique types, packaging, and designs.

I’ve tried a tea from Suwirun before, but this time, while searching through their products, I found one that stands out as quite unique to me: ‘Ginseng Oolong Tea’ from the Tian Yuan Collection.

Ginseng is well-known for its ability to increase energy levels and combat fatigue. It’s not just the soothing sip of the tea that makes me feel awake, but also the strong aroma of the ginseng. The tea truly evokes memories of stepping into an old Chinese traditional pharmacy shop.

'Beautiful Harmony' by Jasberry

  • Ingredients: Chamomile, Orange Peel, Orange Extract
  • Steeping time: 7 Mins

I love everything about oranges: orange flesh, fresh orange juice, the orange color, orange peel, and the TEEKANNE Spanish Orange Tea, so when I found the ‘Beautiful Harmony’ from Jasberry, I knew I had to try it.

Jasberry’s tea collection features five blends in five colorful packages. The ‘Beautiful Harmony’ represents the relaxing benefits and skin condition from orange peel and chamomile. Orange peel offers several health benefits due to its high content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Chamomile is well known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties.

This combination of relaxing and beauty tea tastes and smells so good. It’s my perfect tea to enjoy on my rooftop at sunset.

Exploring local tea brands is quite fun >< I’m thrilled to have tried them all (and also shared some with my friends abroad). Maybe you can try them too!
