Checking Into Hotel Sensai: A Charming Stay in Chiang Mai

Hi friends,

Vesse and I were just having a fun time traveling around Chiang Mai last month during the monsoon season. We spent a week in Chiang Mai, starting with enjoying the fresh air and rains in the lush mountains before coming back to explore the charming town.

We had two days in town before going back to Bangkok, so we spent our time on a little adventure, visiting cute places around Chiang Mai and enjoying our tea time at Raming Tea House Siam Celadon in the old town. What I also love to share is the experience of staying at the Hotel Sensai, which we totally fell in love with.

Hotel Sensai

Located in the hip Nimman Road area, this charming boutique hotel stands out with its unique design and thoughtful service. We checked in around 2 PM and had our welcome cocktail for refreshment in the lobby, which also doubles as a bar and dining area. The simplicity of modern design in the lobby area perfectly complements the sensation of the welcome drink. Of course, if you don’t drink alcohol, they can serve it without alcohol 😉

The hotel offers six room types, with a total of 24 rooms, including Deluxe Room, Pool Access Room, Junior Suite, Sensai Suite, Corner Suite, and a Penthouse. Each room features amenities such as a fully stocked minibar (free soft drinks, tea, juices, snacks, local and international beers), a coffee machine with Victoria coffee capsules, AUDIO PRO Bluetooth speakers, and HARNN bath products.

The word “Sensai” translates to “line” or “connection” in Thai, and the hotel signifies “The Thai Line’s Art,” reflecting the integration of traditional Lanna elements with modern design.

The Junior Suite and its Heavenly Cloud Bed

This is truly one of the highlights of staying at The Hotel Sensai. Really! I didn’t want to leave the bed because it’s so ultimately comfortable, and the sensation of the touch is perfect. It truly fulfilled my purpose of staying here after a week of traveling. The sense of relaxation just being in bed and sleeping is unparalleled. I found myself wanting to come back to the hotel as soon as possible, just to sink into the bed again.

We stayed in the 65 sqm Junior Suite on the third floor. The suite features two main areas: the bedroom, which includes a living area with a sofa, TV, minibar station, desk, and a big comfy bed. The bathroom includes a bathtub, shower, toilet, and an adjoining dressing room.

The room is equipped with various amenities, including a cocktail bar and a complimentary minibar. The minibar was stocked with coffee, tea, still water, mineral water, beer, sodas, and a variety of snacks. I love that the hotel uses glass bottles for water. We also received complimentary brownies and a good night gift of candy.

The Sensai Pool

Being in the center of the chic area of Chiang Mai, where there’s so much to do and explore, it can be challenging to find a moment to relax. However, a little time by the pool can offer the space for retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. The mini oasis at the hotel provided the calm and relaxation I needed. I loved just chilling by the pool with my book before breakfast in the mornings. It was the ideal way to unwind and soak in the serene atmosphere.

The hotel also offers rooms with direct pool access for those who love water. Just looking at these rooms in front of me gave me a sense of relaxation. I believe it’s a perfect setup for anyone who enjoys having easy access to their own private slice of tranquility.

The À La Carte Breakfast Buffet at Café SENSAI

The breakfast was a feast! I just couldn’t stop ordering. The morning began with a delightful à la carte breakfast buffet with a variety of options to choose from, including a fusion of local delicacies, Japanese, and international dishes, along with coffee, tea, and iced drinks. Café SENSAI also serves an à la carte menu that can be ordered for lunch and dinner as well.

Apart from Café SENSAI, the hotel offers a special Omakase experience, featuring a chef-curated dinner of Japanese cuisine. This exclusive service surprises and delights with a curated menu of exquisite dishes, prepared by skilled chefs using the finest ingredients and techniques. This exclusive service has 8 seats available and is open from 17:00 to 22:00, closed on Mondays.
